Technical Gold plating - detail page

Selective application of gold for Diaphragm Seals

Selective gold plating is a process in which a layer of 99.9% pure gold is electrolytically applied to selective locations on a component. This process is frequently used for diaphragm seals.
Gold-plated diaphragm seals
Are often used in industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and food processing to prevent hydrogen permeation. Hydrogen permeation is the process by which hydrogen atoms diffuse through a material, causing it to become brittle and potentially leading to safety risks and product contamination in certain industries. Hydrogen can penetrate even the strongest metals, but gold is highly resistant to hydrogen penetration.
Diaphragm seal
By gold-plating the interior surface of a diaphragm seal, engineers can create a reliable barrier that can withstand high pressure and high temperatures while providing a high degree of chemical inertness and corrosion resistance. This is especially important in industries where safety risks and product contamination are a concern.

Diaphragm seal applications
The application of diaphragm seals in industry is incredibly vast. From the smallest pressure gauges to the largest pipelines, there is a seal hidden somewhere to measure the pressure. Everything stands or falls with a good measuring instrument. That is why the right and durable protective layer must be applied to that seal, which is resistant to the aggressive properties of the medium.
