Zinc

Cost-effective corrosion protection

Zinc plating is a technique we apply mainly to protect steel from corrosion: as a base metal, zinc sacrifices itself to protect steel parts. With zinc, you choose a relatively inexpensive surface protection. LGTB can offer both rack and barrel plating solutions.

Passivation methods

When zinc precipitates are exposed to the atmosphere, they become matt. With suitable passivation methods, the zinc retains its shine and decorative effect for a long time.

All possible layer thicknesses

We usually electrogalvanize in layer thicknesses of around 5 µm (dry, indoors) to 25 µm (corrosive conditions, outdoors). Higher layer thicknesses are technically perfectly possible, but usually not economically justified. Besides the classic treatments, LGTB also offers solutions in accordance with the ELV directive are (Cr6+ free).

For applications under thermoshock, LGTB developed a modified process that combines excellent corrosion resistance with exceptional environmental friendliness. This treatment is possible both on rack and in barrel.

Applications

  • Automotive: increase corrosion resistance and aspect.
  • Construction: increase corrosion resistance and base layer for powder coating.
  • Interior: increase product value.
