Project start-up and packaging

A lock attachment is a safety part that locks the driver's cab of a truck to the chassis. This makes it a safety component with the associated additional quality requirements. The product manufacturer was looking for a reliable partner for the surface treatment. This partner had to have the appropriate quality organization, the Volvo approval for the desired treatment & sufficient capacity to be able to follow the production. In addition, there was the extra difficulty of 4 product variants that are visually difficult to distinguish.

The choice quickly fell on Lgtb due to the 360° open view approach. In this approach, the entire supply chain is discussed in mutual consultation and a search is made for chain optimization. Packaging, transport, planning, stock,......... are discussed in detail.

Win-win for all partners

Since these parts go overseas, a customized maritime packaging is necessary. LGTB developed this in collaboration with the producer and serviced it from the start-up. Through this global approach, significant savings are realized in the chain: a clear win-win for all partners.

Successtory

In addition, LGTB pointed out a shortcoming in the surface treatment specification of this product. Volvo was contacted about this and after a short meeting, they decided to adjust the specification. This prevented later structural problems within Volvo's own paint line. And importantly, this was achieved without price implications!

After some time, the producer appeared to be experiencing storage problems due to lack of space. After an internal open brainstorming session, LGTB proposed a different packaging method. This reduced the storage needs by as much as 12%. Again a nice win-win!!
