Tin-Nickel as a custom solution

In 2016, an electronic solutions provider came to LGTB, following advice from KUL with whom LGTB had done some joint developments in the past, for a new major project to be carried out across Belgium.

For their brass parts, they were looking for high corrosion protection that would not distort the precise dimensions, were non-magnetic, and were economically affordable. LGTB took on the challenge and built an innovative electrolytic process that could deposit tiny layers of a Sn/Ni alloy with lines for both ultra-light and heavy parts.

Both companies worked closely together for months to jointly develop a unique product that is very competitive on the market.

Flexible interactions

In addition to the technical development, other issues had to be addressed. A complex supply chain of more than 300 different types of items, coming from different production locations, had to be set up to ensure timely delivery with a very unpredictable demand.

Through a combination of a fixed schedule for the majority of the operation and room for quick and flexible interactions that bypass standard procedures, LGTB, with the support of the customer, managed to achieve an OTIF delivery of over 99%
